Any chance tkaraoke program can be installed in Linux OS? I just installed Yellow Dog Linux 6.1 on the PS3, and will try to get VLC player to work. It would be great if I can get the PS3 to do something useful such as run all my mkv karaoke files in the ps3. From what I know this is a very powerful machine (CPU wise).

I didn't know that. Probably need to hack the ps3 first? Let me know if you can get VLC to work on Yellow Dog and we'll go from there.

Yes. I installed Yellow Dog Linux 6.1 which is a free OS I downloaded. You don't need to hack the PS3, you can use the ps3 as a computer. Its technology is very efficient and Yellow Dog Linux is made for it. I am too new to the Linux environment, I got the instruction to install VLC tonight. I will keep you updated.

I installed VLC player in yellow dog linux 6.1 on PS3. I tested the player and it is very slow and sometimes there's no image showing if I resized the VLC player to full screen mode. After some searches, I was told Linux on PS3 memory is not used in Linux environment. Instead, the programs are being run by buffer memory. That's why it is slow. I would not recoment tkaraoke being used in this environment.

Thanks for the research. We are investigating whether to use our own internal render instead of VLC. If we choose to use our own video renderer, VLC will not be required for TKaraoke anymore. With move will make it possible to run TKaraoke on the XBox360. Also, many cool features will be possible to implement. Stay tuned!
