I would refer a virtual keyboard because you do not need to know the song number, only a few keystrokes and tkaraoke can predict what the next character will be based on the collection that you have, just like using google or GPS. You can make a virtual keyboard or virtual remote control below the search box in Tkaraokẹ. You do need to buy extra hardware for a virtual remote control
We already simulate the virtual keyboard using the remote control. You would enter "2" for "A", "B", or "C" - the first 2 is A, pressing 2 again within 3 seconds will make it B, etc. 3 for "DEF", 4 or "GHI", etc. In fact, this is why 1 was used to bring up the "Enter Song Number" dialog because 1 is the only number that is not assigned with a letter. We removed this feature in version 1.2 though because no one seem to know about this feature and it's not as quick to find a song. The ones that knew and used this feature switched to using the "Enter Song Number" feature because they can find a song much faster.
You do not need to know the song number use the "Enter Song Number" feature. Press 1 to bring up the "Enter Song Number" dialog and press Up/Down to iterate though all the available songs based on their number or Left/Right to iterate through all the available songs based on their alphabetical order. You can hold down Up/Down/Left/Right to move quickly through the list. This is a handy feature when you do not have the song catalog infront of you.
I kept saying this over and over again - TKaraoke is a very powerful software when used with a remote control. Although we tried to make TKaraoke usable without a remote control, you will be much better off with a remote control.
