I'm still having issues with black screen after playing second song. I've been reading through the posts and it seems that others are having the same problem. It was recommended that the drivers be update to fix the problem.

I have tried this on 2 different video cards with up to date drivers. Still no luck.

It seems the fix from 1 member was to have video card running in "clone" mode.
I believe this is not the best solution. Ideally you want interaction from pc not showing up on TV display.

I've seen the video on youtube regarding dual monitors. I believe it might have work for that person becausen they was running 2 monitors. Instead of a monitor with TV as second output.

Can someone please look into this.

Thanks

If your video card is decent, TKaraoke should work flawlessly in dual screen mode regardless of the Windows video mode (clone, dualview, etc.). The black screen problem start to appear only when your video is in the border case. In this case, clone view is less workload for the video card than dualview. Hence, in this border case, some video card might work in clone view.

There are many people using the dual screen mode in TKaraoke with no issue even on laptops. If there are enough people reported with the black screen issue, we will release a non-standard version of TKaraoke that will make less use of the video card. Unfortunately, this version will not support Dual Screen mode.

Thanks for the reply vcdz382.

I've tried this on 2 video cards, ATI 3400 series and Nvidia Geforce 8500. Both show the same symptoms.

Here's a look at whats going on.

I'm using a DVI to HDMI connection out to the TV.

Video setup is set to Dualview.

The first video plays fine when 2nd monitor is enabled. Selecting next song, a Tkaraoke background shows for a few seconds then a black screen. Audio is still heard. To get the video back, I can just toggle the enable 2nd video option.

Hopefully you guys can get to the bottom of this. I will continue to mess with it and will update anything new.

Thanks

Set Your TV display to THEATER MODE/FULL SCREEN. I run XP Pro and have an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro and it works great for me after about three hours monkying around with the Drivers and Settings. You may also want to download the latest Video Drivers (I did). I don't think it is TKARAOKE's Problems.

Open ATI Card "Catalyst Control Center" in BASIC "WIZARD" Mode.
Set to Extended Desktop (Dual Monitor)
THEN
Switch over to ADVANCED MODE.
Open up "Video" Entry.
High Lite "Theater Mode".
To the Right Panel, you should see your "Main Display" and your "Second Display" (Your TV).
Select "in Theater Mode Full Screen" from the pull down box.
Check "Scale to Full Screen".
"Apply" your Changes and Exit "Catalyst Control Center".

Also, make sure BOTH DISPLAYS are set to 1024x768 Resolutions.

Note - Your TV (Flat Panel) has nothing to do with the settings to use Dual Screens (or Tri Screens). Basically, the Video Card has Multiple Tuners and the Tuners are control by software to display the different screens.

Hope this help and good luck!

If your video card is good, you should be able to run TKaraoke in HD resolution (1920x1080 or 1920x1200) with no black screen. Post back and let us know if you resolved your issues.

Greetings,

I would recommend to configure the features to work first then play around with the resolutions, later. Regards.

Could this be the memory leak problem?

No, this is caused by a poor graphic card that can't keep up with the app's demand. Either a sucky video card or wrong driver can cause this to happen.

well, today I decided to use dual monitor mode and I get the black screen on the 2nd monitor. If I disabled and then enabled dual screen again then it will work for that song. Then I would get the black screen for the next song. My video card is a Nvidia GeForce 9500GT running on AMD Athlon Dual Core 2300 with 2GB of RAM.

In "Clone" mode TKaraoke is working good Liar Maybe you have a weak graphic card

The Geforce 9500GT is not a top of the line video card, but it is not a bad card. If the 9500GT considered 'weak' then TKaraoke video requirement is pretty high. BTW, I'm not knocking TKaraoke. I like TKaraoke and consider it a great program. I love it. Thank you very much for writing and sharing it.

Hopefully this will help some. When I use it with 2 monitors, using the VGA output instead of DVI, using horizonal span, the video screen will work on the 2nd screen, just not in full screen mode. I can expand the screen to fit the whole screen and the video will display fine, but when using full screen by double click on the display bar, I will get the black screen.
My problem is that, when I hook up the TV, using a DVI-HDMI converter, the video card won't give me the option to have horizontal span, only dual view, and it won't work.

I will try to find a DVI cable to hook up my monitor so that the output on the monitor and the TV will both be digital and see if it will allow me to put it in horizonal span mode.

Go to the download page and try version 1.2.0.002. The try to play on your TV to see if the black screen issue go away or not. Then we'll go from there.

I downloaded the version 1.2.0.002 to try, but there is no dual screen option, so there is no issue. But that's not what is desired. I want to be able to select the songs on the monitor and display the video on the TV without bothering the singers.

OK. As a workaround, this time I setup the TV as the main screen, monitor as 2nd screen. When enable dual screen, I move the songlist screen to the monitor and the video screen to the TV, then expand the video screen to fill up the TV screen. It seems to work fine.
BTW, I installed the latest version 1.4.0.076, and that fixed the CD+G display problem. Now I don't have to have progressive screen turned off anymore.

I saw that the GeForce 9500GT only has two DVI outputs. You may want to buy a new video card with a dedicated HDMI output. I saw ATI has one for under $70.00 somewhere that has three outputs (15-pin VGA + DVI + HDMI).

BTW - I always have better luck with ATI. I am using an older ATI with three outputs (15-pin VGA + DVI + SVGA) and it have served me well implenting Dual-monitor in both Clone and Extended Modes.

I also have this problem, ie blank screen when TKaraoke plays the next song. Think
I will try your workaround, thank thangmitcon. Applause
