I have been using the software for about two months now directly from my Local HardDrive without using the Internet features such as "lyrics, Singers' Names, etc." because of my song-number conventions (5 digits instead of 4!). My second concern is what would happen if I don't have access to the Internet. Would TKaraoke remember all the information I previously populated? I am older than the Earth :)

Thank you for your quick response. I had read the post and here is my impression: When I add a song - let's say at a friend's house without Internet access. I would only have the names of the Songs since the cache would be flushed (Note: My Songs named in Vietnamese with accent marks - Unicode). Am I wrong or confused? I am older than the Earth :)

You would have all the data except for the lyrics. The non-lyric data came from the songs file names so no online access needed. The online database provides you with the lyrics and the updated songwriter names (if you check the option to overwrite your data with the online data).

Hello...
I have a similar problem just like DavidT about TKaraoke and Internet to update the data pertaining to the songs data. My dad is using Tkaraoke and he doesn't have internet at his house. Everytime he needs an update..I would have to take his computer and update at my house..not fun at all. I remember in the older versions on Tkaraoke there are separates files that stores the Artists, Title ect.. But the newer build doesn't have it anymore..And also the lyrics website has a feature for user to download all the updated stuff..where is that feature? Because, with that I can just download all to a thump drive and over-write my dad's files at his house. And plus sometimes when users are comfortable with there current version and all they need to update the songs data..they can just update it with a simple over-write...it's painless that way..
So can you please have a feature on the website so users can view and/or download all available lyrics, artists, title ect...???It will make the software more flexible and users like me less headache...
P.S. I thought feature to view and/or download artist, title was avaliable before..where is it now?? I've been waiting for that feature to come back for months..So, now I have to request it...
Thanks, HTT

Before when we don't have a live database, the offline lyric database was distributed with TKaraoke. This is a limited database and is not as big as our current live database. Compared to the older version, the new TKaraoke version can recognize the lyric of more songs and more importantly, the accuracy improved a lot.
There is no plan to go back to the offline database approach. However, there is a plan to have TKaraoke cache the pulled down lyrics. Currently, if you make any change to your song collection, you will need to re-pull the lyrics. In the future, TKaraoke will try to use the cached version (the lyrics you pulled earlier) until you request to get the latest from the online database.
The lyrics site will have an option for logged in members to get the latest Singer/Songwriter names and Titles. This list can be imported directly into TKaraoke via the Tools menu. I'm glad you post a message to request this forgotten feature. There are many advanced TKaraoke users out there who rarely participate in this forum. I'm hoping advanced members participate more and help out newbies in case I'm on a long vacation or busy with paid projects.

Thank you for your reply...
Is it possible for you to post a copy of the current live database for lyric, title, and artists? In text format or whatever makes it easier for you. I think this would help a lot of our advance users. I know the database is big..but if we zip it..it would not be that bad. I can help to manage this file for you if you like. You don't have to post it frequently. I think after the first post of the copy of the database..the next post could be 6 months or more later on. I don't think there will be that many updates under a 6 months period. At the current rate that Thuy Nga, Asia, Van Son ect.. are releasing the karaoke. There will be no more than 20 dvd karaoke released within 6 period. So if my calculations are right. The database will not grow more than 50megs in 6 months including adding in older songs ect.. But with your help in releasing a copy of the database that we all helped builded. Advance users and myself would save a lot of headaches and that makes the software more flexible.
Thanks, HTT

Thanks, HTT This is a management decision and we'll see how it goes. I can see a reason not to distribute a database though... A lot of people just use it without thinking about contributing to it (edit wrong songs, add more songs, improve the accuracy, etc.) if the database just came with the software - they just think the software just magically get the lyrics. But if the lyrics must be pulled manually via clicks, they know there is a database and everyone is relying on the database for the goodies. Oscationally people log in and improves the database.

Yes, I totally understands your situation. But Tkaraoke is currently free and the database is builded by user contributing to it. I think we all appreciate that Tkaraoke is free and thank you to all the people that are working on. But I think that the developers that are working on Tkaraoke are offering it for free and sharing it with our fellow Vietnamese people. Our fellow Vietnamese people/users are contributing back what we have and can to the database with updates ect...We're all sharing what we have and what we can. So this sharing of what the fellow Vietnamese users had put together (for advance user). I think would be nice. And of course this is an extra link to download separately for advance users who knows what they're doing..If users use it without cautions, then that would be their fault. That's why we have it for Advance Users Only.
Thanks, HTT

Hello vcdz382, So can you guys able to share the database that all of our users have put together? Thanks! Actually, the database is the product of TKaraoke staff. Just a few users (two or three users) adding a couple dozens song lyrics to this forum ... then the staff integrate those in the song database. I think a handful users can claim not more than 1% of the database project. We all have to earn our living somehow, so please be patient ... Vcdz382 is busy on paid projects which he has legitimate obligation to put on priority list. Thanks for understanding My computers and PS3 are fighting cancers Here's how http://folding.stanford.edu/

Thanks, HTT
